Learn How To Play Roulette

Casino roulette is a simple game to learn with the different bets being the only thing you really need to know. In terms of strategy your bets bet is to always play on single zero tables (See American Vs European Roulette). This guide covers everything you need to know to get started.

Aim of the Game

  • To predict where the ball will land and bet on the correct outcome

Game Play

  • Players make bets by placing chips on the table
  • The ball is spun onto the wheel
  • The ball stops spinning and lands in one of the slots
  • Winning bets are paid

Betting Options and Pay Outs

There are two categories of bets when it comes to roulette. These are known as Inside and Outside bets. These relate to where the chips are placed on the table.

Inside Bets

These bets are placed within the numbered area on the table

  • Straight Up : Pays 35 to 1
    A bet placed on a single number
     
  • Split : Pays 17 to 1
    A bet placed on the line between two numbers
     
  • Street : Pays 11 to 1
    A bet on a row of three numbers
     
  • Corner : Pays 8 to 1
    A bet placed on the corner where four numbers meet
     
  • Six Line : Pays 5 to 1
    A bet placed on the line between two rows

Outside Bets

These bets are placed on the table outside of the numbered area

  • Red or Black : Pays 1 to 1
    A bet on all red numbers or all black numbers
     
  • Odd or Even : Pays 1 to 1
    A bet on either all even numbers or all odd numbers
     
  • High or Low : Pays 1 to 1
    A bet on either the first 18 or second 18 numbers
     
  • Dozen Bet : Pays 2 to 1
    A bet on 12 numbers. Either 1 to 12, 13 to 24 or 25 to 36
     
  • Column Bet : Pays 2 to 1
    A bet on a column of 12 numbers

Betting Rules

The actual rules can vary from casino to casino but in general you can place bets until the croupier call "No More Bets". You can only place bets within the tables betting limits although you can place as many bets as you like as long as they do not go over the limit. Once the ball lands all bets are paid and you start again.
