House Advantage for Craps

In this article we take a look at the house edge for the different bets at the craps tables. This indicates which bets are the best as you should always make sure you give the casino the lowest edge possible. Craps is one of the few games where some of the bets have absolutely no edge.

Craps Bets with the Lowest House Edge

  • Pass Odds / Don't Pass Odds : 0% (See Below)
  • Come / Don't come Odds : 0% (See Below)
  • Don't Pass Line / Don't Come : 1.36%
  • Pass Line / Come : 1.41%

Craps Bets with the Highest House Edge

  • Any 7 : 16.9%
  • Proposition 2 or 12 : 13.90%
  • Any Craps : 11.10%
  • Hardway 4 or 10 / Proposition 3 or 11 : 11.10%

The odds bets themselves pay true odds so they have no advantage for the casino. The only catch is that you have to make a pass / don't pass or come / don't come bet in order to be able to place an odds bet. For this reason you have to combine the edge on both bets to get the actual edge. This depends on the amount you can place on the odds bets but the combined edge is generally between 0.34% to 0.47% which is a very attractive edge for the player.

About the House Edge for Craps

Some players complain that they made all of the best bets but still lost their money. It is worth noting that even with a low edge on the odds bets you are not guaranteed to win. You will however lose less over the long term which is all you can really ask for.
